Junior Java Engineer
We’re looking for a Junior Java Engineer for an initial day-rate contract. You’ll join an established application development team in financial services, helping build and improve the systems behind online trading, client onboarding, regulatory processes and third-party integrations.

Responsibilities

• Build Java components and microservices with Spring Boot, to spec and on schedule
• Work with the wider Java team on microservices and agent-based development that makes the application stack more efficient
• Work with developers, analysts and operations colleagues on strategic wealth and investment projects
• Follow the team’s Java coding standards and best practices, and help others follow them too
• Track your BAU and project work in Azure DevOps within an agile delivery framework
• Help keep the codebase clean, following good source control practice
• Look for ways to improve processes and put them into practice

Requirements

• 2+ years of commercial Java development experience
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and microservices
• A degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Development or a related discipline
• Exposure to banking or financial services would be an advantage
• Java certifications or a stockbroking qualification would be a bonus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
